US/ FRUITY ANTICS REVIEW/

Bristol doesn't have a reputation for Deep House but this night is doing its best to change that. The Thekla though not the classiest venue has a definite character and intimacy to it that is lacking in the warehouse style clubs that dominate the Bristol scene. Tonight the main attraction was NRK's Nick & Redg. NRK is a Bristol Label that has released Deep House 12"s by the best American and European producers like Gemini, Ian Pooley and Roy Davis Jnr.

The musical style ran from New York inspired Disco-House, Chicago minimalism and deepness to Detroit tech and erm, Minneapolis's greatest son Prince, backdrops and lighting were simple but effective; and living up to it's name platters of fresh fruit are passed round during the evening, which is well needed. The crowd was friendly, unpretentious and most importantly up for it, which for me is the basis of good night. Totally Recommended.

Fruity Antics happens every fourth Saturday.
