Derrick: do you think of yourself as the Godfather of Techno :)?

Torlry no i dont...

derrick: thanks for picking a couple of my tracks!

Scott: No problem just keep up the good work...

yeea thanx also for takeing one of my trax

Tran: Ditto Ditto.

Can I have some interesting questions please?

Derrick, what new producers have you been listening to a lot

lately?

crystal: Unfortunately, not many. I like good music, new or

old producers.

If Enya and Ginger Spice got in a fight who would win? What

equipment do you work with nowadays ?

Pippilina: Ginger! She's got a piece of ass!

derrick, i've read in interviews that you've liked the way

sony japan has treated you. has japanese culture influenced your music at

all?

proj_2501: NO! At the same time I'm a big fan of YMO! Japan

is a cool place to be.

Derrick: here's a question for you, do you listen to classical

music at all? and if so who's your favorite classical composer :)?

Torley: Bethoven! Rachmananoff too.

YMO is ace. i like Ryuichi Sakamoto a whole lot :)

Torley: She has sold out! He I mean.

What do you think of jazz, Derrick?

shatter: Jazz is the shit! Flat out.

derrick: what do think of the quality of the tracks on mp3.com? What did u like about my tracks?

ScottVallance: It was cool, I though it was more like a club

track. You need some more melody and strings. Challenge yourself. Don't be

so dependent on dance tracks.

Derrick: what do i need to do to get you booked for a party? <=== moving to detroit area

paco: Are you fucking crazy?!?!

crazy for moving to detroit? <=== moving about 2 hours from detroit.. by toledo

paco: Give us a call if you are making music.

derrick, i heard frustration (the track done w/ c. craig) is over 10 yrs. old, yet others tell me its like 2 yrs old...what gives?

bc: The track is actually 12 years old.

Derrick- Your music is sooooo boring. Why the attitude?

Gully: You can lick my ass!

Derrick, any plans to ever do a dnb track?

APHELEON: No. I'm a big fan of drum and bass and I respect

those guys. I would never attempt to jump into a field that I am not

familiar with.

why is transmat releasing aril brikha's album on 3 separate eps,

rather than a 2xlp?

bc: Because we are Transmat! We can do that!

derrick what other artists have you worked with

nvious: Depeche Mode, Nitzer Ebb. Guy Called Gerald. Seal. There's others but that's it at the moment. :)

THE BIG QUESTION: DERRICK? WILL THE WORLD END ON 2000?

Isotropy: The world has already ended! It's over! You just

don't know it. Didn't you see The Matrix?

You think that's air you're breathing

Pippilina: No way. Of course not.

Derrick: What did ya think of the Coachella festival, think

you'll do it again if they have another one?

TheRev: Beautiful! Best organized.

Derrick: Would you have taken the red pill??

Magellan: I don't take pills. I would have definitely taken

the girl!

...good answer...

Derrick: the gear heads here wanna know what you have in your

studio...

dr_buse: Check back in two minutes. I'll look into that.

Derrick: which influenced you more originally.... Chicago house

or New York garage?

cellular: Chicago had some definite impact. New York had

none. Knuckles and Hardy.

YESSS derrick. the right answer

who were you listening to when you were, like 13?

crystal: The Who. I was into Funkadelic. Ohio Players.

THE WHO!!! hell yeah

paco: Now you're in my corner!

DERRICK: Although commercial, many site these artists as

influential to there music: What do you think of The Prodigy and Aphex

Twin?

Septic: Prodigy are the prodigy of a record company. They

were invented. They are corporate

derrick: how did you feel about some of the Time:Space dates

being 21+, therefore excluding many avid fans from being able to go?

TheRev: That's fucked.

Derrick.. where are you right now?

GratiotKid: I am at the Alpha Base cyber cafe in Detroit.

How many women have you slept with?

GratiotKid: None of your fuckin business! Including your mother!

is that really your bmw

commonwealth: How would you know I had a BMW?

just a guess

Derrick: Have you ever had sex with Traci Lords?

Pimpy: Hell no! That's some nasty pussy. No thanks.

Oh... but I'M Traci! (Heart shatters)

well besides techno, what type of music do you listen to that

would most surprise us?

AFM-Euclid: I'm into a lot of unreleased music coming from

friends of mine. I'm not influenced by too much commercial stuff of any kind.

who are the innovators?

There aren't many innovators and tons of procrastinators.

Derrick, where do you get your inspiration from when you create a new track?

SINTZ: I tap back into my childhood. It was a special time

for me.

your favorite tv show.

Has: I don't watch TV.

I play Quake and Half Life. Tenchu too.

why did jeremy from jazzhead fill in for john beltran on the tour?

bc: We felt as if Jeremy could be more versatile with his

keyboard playing.

Why did you take so much time out from production? the stuff you produced was brilliant! more more more

cellular: I got burned by the music industry.

DERRICK: IS IT JUST ME OR DOES T R A N C E [] C O N T R O L SUCK EGGS?!?!

Septic: Trance is boring. It's an offshoot rave. Cool in a

club setting but you take that home and it goes nowhere.

is neil oliveirra gonna do an album for transmat? or another label?

bc: Not right now.

<[kin]> Derrick: sorry I missed you on the transmat tour

Right now the tour is finished. We're picking up dates in

March and April. We're trying an electronic programmer with acoustic

musicians working together.

Derrick_May: Where's your favorite place to perform? --Also, have

you ever been to San Diego?

RedDog: No. My favorite place to perform is Japan.

Derrick: how do you feel about easy gratification programs

like ACID and the use of pre-fab samples and loops

If you use it appropriately it can be quitE cool. Otherwise

it's just the easy way in.

Japan huh. Is it because they pay well ;-) ?

crystal: The japanese kids are amazing. Probably the best

party people I have experienced in the world. They are enthusiastic and warm and loving.
